Directions to make newsboy hats:
Step 1: A triangle is drawn which resembles the shape of the hat’s body. This triangle is used to obtain the pattern of the hat. The triangle’s base should measure only 3.625 inches, the height of triangle drawn should measure seven inches. Add a half inch seam allowance for the shape which you had drawn. follow with the dotted line as the outline which appears on the figure. Mark this as the “hat body” and seperate out this piece.
Step 2: Draw a pattern for representing the hat’s brim. Base of this pattern should be of two inches. The distance measured from the top corner to right corner should be of 6.5 inches. This diagram is followed to create the shape of the hat’s brim. Mark this as “hat brim” and seperate out this pattern.
Step 3: Next the shape of the hat’s band is drawn. The length and height of this pattern should be of 2.5 and 3 inches respectively. Mark this portion as “cap band” and seperate out this pattern.
Cutting out Newsboy hat:
Step 1: From the printed fabric, cut and make eight boby pieces.
Step 2: By the contrast fabric, cut and make eight body pieces.
Step 3: Decide that the hat’s brim should be made out either using the contrast fabric or print fabric.
Step 4: Cut two pieces of hat band from contrast fabric.
Sewing Newsboy hat:
Step 1: Sew the seperate fabric pieces togther by perfectly matching their edges and corners. The first and the last hat’s pieces are sewed together in order to finish the hat.
Step 2: Lining is been made inside the hat’s portion. The bottom end of the hat band is top stitched; sewing is done in order to close the opening.
